The purpose of this research was to analyze the evolution of the Mexican economy, through the behavior of Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Mexico in the period 1970-2009. To estimate the relationship between GDP and non-oil exports oil, we used Ordinary Least Squares. The Mexican economy presented a six-year economic cycle, registering the "Valley" at the beginning and end of each six years, while the "Peak" in the second and third year. With Lopez Portillo scored the highest annual average growth, being 6.57%. A 1% increase in oil exports generated an increase of 0.20% of GDP. The current economic crisis is reflected by a decline in GDP, passing from a rate of growth of 3.3% in 2007 to 1.8 % in 2008, and -6.5% for 2009, coupled with unemployment of 6.4% in September 2009.es
