Abstract

The meristematic tissue represents a specific tissue of plant organisms. It is made up of dedifferentiated cells that remain throughout the life of the plant. It has two main functions: the growth and regeneration of other tissues. Therefore, the meristematic tissue is an exclusive feature of the plants, which allows them to generate a new individual from a fragment of the plant.
