It is not possible to conceive the culture separated of scientific knowledge, because it has occupied, next to the humanities, a central site in the abstract thinking in everyday life of all mankind.

So, the popularization of the science, as it is done by the Área Académica de Medicina del Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, is vital and fulfills the task of making known the research conducted in this area as well as in the knowledge and analysis of the history of medicine in our country. If we understand that the science is a rational, accurate, verifiable and reliable knowledge, we can understand that the man has reached a broad, deep and accurate conceptual reconstruction of the world, therefore through time the Democritus thought is enlarged when he said, "one demonstration of scientific knowledge is more valuable than any treasure of any kingdom."

The manuscript of Mercedes Alanis and Luis Enrique Soria (1) recalls us to the Dr. Francisco de Asís Flores y Troncoso, which is to recall a person of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century who greatly influenced in the history of Mexican medicine. He was from Silao Guanajuato (Mexico), the Dr. Francisco de Asís was a person that under his medical studies and political science and his skills as a historian analyzed the characteristics of the Mexican people inspired by works such as that of Clavijero and Duran, who managed to awaken in Francisco de Asís interest to know the pre-Hispanic medicine and medical advances of the nineteenth century. Likewise, it was of utility the coexistence with illustrious doctors as the Dr. Rafael Lavista, who created the National Institute of Pathology (being the first surgeon to perform an abdominal hysterectomy), and the Dr. Porfirio Parra, positivist doctor and creator of works of medical ethics, who he said that when a doctor does his duty, he has complied with two fundamental premises: 1. Love of neighbor; and 2. Respect others and public opinion approving his conduct when he is correct or otherwise fails.

The work of Francisco de Asís in 3 volumes entitled “La historia de la Medicina en México Desde la Época de los Indios hasta el presente” published in 1886, represents the idea of positivist medicine, separating of the scholastic metaphysics, and separating science medical of the dogma.

Another interesting article in this issue of the journal, is referred to the study on the effect of L-Carnitine in muscle mass of athletes, where they talk about their uses and possible complications (2). Also of particular importance is the article that analyzes the desirable and undesirable effects of drug combinations to combat pain (3).

We hope that the manuscripts in the number 6 of the journal are of interest to readers and also we do a call to the scientific community to send manuscripts to the present journal to increase the benefit to the health and to the health sciences.
