The results obtained in the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) indicate that the majority of older adults engage in moderate physical activity, with a frequency of 180, which is equivalent to a percentage of 49.1%. CONCLUSION: The predominant level of physical activity among older adults in the Tula region is moderate.
Citlally Olguín-Estrada, Adriana González-García, Elideth Mota-Hernández, Ariana Maya-Sánchez, Benjamín López-Nolasco, Gabriela Maldonado-Muñiz Copyright (c) 2024 Citlally Olguín-Estrada, Adriana González-García, Elideth Mota-Hernández, Ariana Maya-Sánchez, Benjamín López-Nolasco, Gabriela Maldonado-Muñiz https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12235 Thu, 09 May 2024 15:36:40 -0600 Exploring In Vitro Models: Advances and Challenges in Human Respiratory Tract Research https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12347
In recent years, there has been a concerted effort to develop in vivo and ex vivo models that replicate the histology, physiology, and pathology of human airways, but their translation to human applications has posed significant challenges. Ethical concerns regarding the number of animals required for efficacy and safety assessments remain a critical issue. As an alternative, in vitro models have gained prominence, aiming to emulate human tissue characteristics. They offer promising correlations with human tissue, providing a more ethical, cost-effective, and rapid approach for reproducible results. In vitro models present an opportunity to reduce reliance on animal testing while offering a controlled environment that better elucidates cell-cell interactions compared to ex vivo models. However, challenges persist. The lack of standardized methodologies, protocols, and validated approaches hinders the reliability and widespread adoption of these in vitro models. Addressing these hurdles is essential to ensure the accuracy and credibility of results derived from these systems.

Doris Cerecedo Copyright (c) 2024 Doris Cerecedo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12347 Thu, 09 May 2024 16:33:56 -0600 Frameworks of food environments: their scopes and perspectives https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12385
The study of chronic non-communicable diseases has gone from having a biomedical approach which was emphasized in epidemiological models proposed before the 1970s. After the 1970s, emphasis has been placed on the study of environments as part of the determinants of health. The study of environments has seen the need to focus on specific topics. This is the case of food environments. Food environments have been associated with nutritional health outcomes. For the explanation of food environments, the exposition of the variables and scope that compose them, there have been various proposals for explanatory models. Through this work, the elements and dimensions of the INFORMAS model, Retail Food Environment, Domains of the Food Environment Model, FAO Model, about Urbanization and food security, Organizational Food Environment Model, Types of Food Environment Model and The Innocenti Framework on Food Systems for Children and Adolescents, considering in each of them the elements and dimensions of the food environment, as well as the perspectives from which the concept of food environment is understood.
Jhazmin Hernández Cabrera Copyright (c) 2024 Jhazmin Hernández Cabrera https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12385 Thu, 09 May 2024 16:44:16 -0600 The role of dietary supplements in the treatment of Primary Dysmenorrhea: Vitamin D3 and Zinc https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12405
Dysmenorrhea is defined as “painful menstruation”. Two types of dysmenorrhea are known: primary, which occurs in the absence of any gynecological disease, and secondary, which is associated with an underlying pathology. Primary dysmenorrhea typically occurs approximately 6 months after menarche. Approximately 16% to 81% of women of childbearing age experience primary dysmenorrhea, with 2% to 29% reporting moderate to severe intensity.

The treatment of primary dysmenorrhea focuses on pain relief. However, supplements such as Vitamin D3 and Zinc should be considered. Vitamin D3 inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, while zinc also inhibits its synthesis, thereby improving uterine microcirculation and reducing the intensity of uterine contractions. It is important to note that not only pharmacological treatment should be considered, but also lifestyle changes that promote maximum physical and emotional well-being to reduce the consumption of analgesics and achieve control or remission of the underlying pathology.
Lilian Scarlet Gerardo Muñoz Copyright (c) 2024 Lilian Scarlet Gerardo Muñoz https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12405 Fri, 10 May 2024 11:49:13 -0600 Relationship of physical function and body composition to suicidal ideation in the elderly: A Systematic Review https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12407
In this study, a systematic review was conducted to examine suicidal ideation in older adults in relation to physical function and body composition in older men and women aged 60 years and older. Articles published between January 2013 and September 2023 were identified using the keywords suicidal ideation, physical function, and body composition, written in English. The search was conducted if they were empirical papers, published in scientific journals, written in English or Spanish language and that evaluated the relationship between suicidal ideation, physical function and body composition in older adults. Eighteen cross-sectional studies and one clinical trial met the eligibility criteria. Most were conducted in South Korea. The relationship between suicidal ideation, physical function in older adults was positive and significant in men, but not in women. On the other hand, the relationship between body composition resulting from body mass index (BMI) and suicidal ideation was not shown to be a significant predictor. This study provided valuable information on the importance of preventing the loss of physical function, such as gait speed, muscle strength, and basic activities of daily living (BADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), in preventing suicidal ideation in older adults. This finding is important because physical function can be treated or mediated by therapeutic interventions.
Christian Jazmín Flores Pérez Copyright (c) 2024 Christian Jazmín Flores Pérez https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12407 Fri, 10 May 2024 12:38:15 -0600 Borderline Personality Disorder: Review of the Effectiveness of Evidence-Based Therapeutic Interventions. https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12449
Borderline personality disorder is a complex and heterogeneous disorder, characterized by instability in the regulation of emotions and alterations in interpersonal relationships and self-image. Studies conducted in recent years have assessed the efficacy of various psychotherapeutic strategies for the reduction of specific symptoms and the treatment of the disorder itself. The aim of this paper is to provide a review of evidence-based psychotherapies that have been shown to be effective in the treatment of BPD. The scientific evidence allows us to realize that psychotherapies that have a more structured design and operability have a more significant efficacy both in achieving an improvement of the particular symptomatology and the general nosological picture of BPD. Differences are found in the interventions according to the factors in which each one has greater impact, this can contribute to make informed decisions on the choice of treatments based on the specific interest of each researcher or the needs of each case, achieving a broader and more functional vision of the disorder mostly patient-centered. An analysis is made of the evidence-based interventions that have been specifically designed for the treatment of BPD, as well as a review of the comparative efficacy of some of them, and finally, studies showing the neuropsychological correlates of the application of some of the treatments are included.

J. Its conventional management in immature permanent teeth is by apexification. However, this treatment has the disadvantage of weakening the root walls tending to root fracture and pulp does not present revitalization. Due to that, the use of regenerative endodontic treatment has been recommended and it aims to regenerate the dentin-pulp complex, in addition to root growth, maturation and apical closure through cell replacement within the root tissue using stem cells and growth factors. Cloth formation is used as a scaffold for stem cells from the apical papilla to stimulate tissue regeneration. The aim of this review is to synthesize the available information about this treatment and to contribute to the possibility of the creation of a protocol consensus of this treatment.
Daniela Mendoza Juárez, Norma I. These studies relate experimental data and theoretical data of interactions. drug-protein based on molecular descriptors. Among these methods, the most relevant are molecular docking, which relates the molecular dynamics between drug-protein structures, and the structure-activity relationship or QSAR method, which correlates physicochemical, electronic, and steric parameters of drugs with their biological activity. The mathematical results obtained through these methods allow generating a series of predictions of theoretical-experimental relationship.
Ricardo G. Martinez Daniel Copyright (c) 2024 Ricardo G. AI technologies such as machine and deep learning, especially convolutional neural networks (CNNs), are explored in detail, and their applications in AI-assisted diagnosis in areas such as oncology, cardiology, and dentistry are discussed. Both advantages and disadvantages of AI in medicine are highlighted, including its ability to analyze large volumes of medical data and improve diagnostic accuracy, as well as ethical and practical challenges related to patient data protection and transparency in decision-making. Although AI shows great potential to transform medical care, it is concluded that it currently remains a support tool for clinicians and cannot completely replace clinical decision making. It highlights the importance of addressing the remaining challenges and continuing to research and develop new technologies to maximize the potential of AI in medicine.
Sergio David Pintado Brito Copyright (c) 2024 Sergio David Pintado Brito https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12397 Mon, 13 May 2024 14:44:43 -0600 Contextual therapies for the intervention of anxiety and depression in adults https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12426
According to the World Health Organization there are about 264,000,000 cases of anxiety disorders. In Latin America, depression is the second most common mental disorder, and in its most severe form, it can lead to suicide. In addition, adulthood is a stage where significant events occur, as well as the search for autonomy. Although the efficacy of different psychological treatments in adults with anxiety disorders and depression has been demonstrated, there is a growing interest in the available evidence of the components and techniques of third generation therapies in this population. Therefore, a narrative review of interventions based on contextual therapies (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Behavioral Activation, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Functional Analytic Therapy) was carried out to know their effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety and depression in adults
Tanya Butrón Islas Copyright (c) 2024 Tanya Butrón Islas https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12426 Mon, 13 May 2024 14:54:14 -0600 Current trends and future directions of mHealth in psychology: Challenges and promising perspectives https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12430
The impact of e-Health and m-health interventions on mental health, highlighting their potential to address psychological problems. E-health is defined as the use of information and communication technologies in support of health, while mobile health refers to the usage of mobile technologies for health purposes. Both offer benefits such as availability, accessibility, cost-effectiveness and content personalization. The effectiveness of mobile apps in improving quality of life, reducing symptoms of stress and depression, and promoting emotional well-being. The importance of integrating psychological theories into these applications is highlighted and the need for more research, especially in populations such as older adults and health workers. Accessibility and reach of psychological services through m-health are crucial, but challenges are observed in adoption and usability, especially in environments such as that of university students. The need to carefully consider the socio-cultural experiences and preferences of users when developing m-health applications is highlighted. There are three examples of interventions in Mexico, highlighting the implementation of preventive strategies for adolescents, augmented reality in psychology teaching, and a smoking cessation programme for adults. Although successful, it is recognized that there is little scientific evidence related to mobile applications in the Mexican population. It highlights the potential of mobile technology in mental health, but also points to challenges and the need for ongoing research to ensure the ethical and effective development of applications in this field.
Luis A. However, despite social and health efforts, the data show an increase in the incidence and prevalence of this problem and traditional treatments have high dropout and relapse rates. Therefore, it is necessary to contribute to the study of the phenomenon of substance consumption and generate more effective intervention proposals. One of the therapies that has shown effectiveness over traditional interventions aimed at substance use is the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This may be because this therapy offers a multimodal, comprehensive and flexible treatment that can be used transdiagnostically in both adults and adolescents. and because it addresses problematic emotions and behaviors, such as the abuse of psychotropic substances. The present theoretical review aims to show the bases of DBT dialectical behavioral therapy, the adaptations made for cases with substance abuse and the evidence, so far available, of the effectiveness of interventions based on DBT for the management of problems related to consumption. of substances.
Adriana Herrera-Palacios Copyright (c) 2024 Adriana Herrera-Palacios https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://repository.uaeh.edu.mx/revistas/index.php/MJMR/article/view/12446 Mon, 13 May 2024 15:31:48 -0600
