Abstract

The purpose of this review is to highlight the importance of knowledge management in the administrative context of a school, as well as its application to connect the activities of the educational center with other institutions or information departments. This process is essential to achieve objectives and goals, and to consolidate, both in the short and long term, the key aspects of the institution, in search of excellence. The social dynamics in which we are immersed bring with them structural transformations that directly affect current educational systems. In the so-called "knowledge society", information management is the basis on which effective planning, organization, integration, direction and control of the various educational systems and levels are built. These systems operate within two complementary dynamics in the contemporary context: the first, which questions their historical function (Castells, 2006), and the second, which raises doubts about the identity of the school (Hargreaves, 2005). In both cases, it is crucial to have reliable, up-to-date, complete, relevant, verifiable, accessible and secure sources of information that allow us to understand and interpret the reality in which we work.
