Resumen

Rocks are the aggregate of one or more minerals, which constitute the lithosphere and are classified into three types: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. Igneous rocks are formed inside the earth, by cooling and solidification of magma, its name derives from the Greek etymology « ignis » means fire. They are divided into two groups: 1) extrusive rocks 2) intrusive rocks. Some examples of intrusive igneous rocks are: granite, diorite, gabbro, peridotite, tonalite and syenite.
