Abstract

Students understand the importance of the study of electricity, its application in industry and its relationship to everyday life. The science of electricity originated with the observation, made by Thales of Miletus in 600. of J.C. that a piece of amber when rubbed attracts small pieces of straw. The study of magnetism goes back to the discovery that certain "stones" natural (i.e., magnetite) attract iron pieces.
