The new species is most similar to D. bravoae, but has 17 19 hooks per longitudinal row on the proboscis (excluding the ventral crescent), longer lemnisci (2250±391, n=44), testes that are longer and wider (322±38, n= 25 long and 176±29, n= 25 wide), and a uterine bell that is smaller (289±61, n= 23 long and 80±24, n= 23 wide). Dollfusentis bravoae has 16 17 hooks per longitudinal row on the proboscis, shorter lemnisci (2015±516, n=9), testes that are shorter and not as wide (218±46, n= 6 long and 136±24, n= 6), and a uterine bell that is larger (321±64, n= 4 long and 78±33, n=4 wide). Adults of all other known species of the genus inhabit the intestine of their host, but adults of D. salgadoi n. sp.inhabit the rectum of its hostes
