Síntesis y evaluación fotocatalítica de la Bi25FeO40 irradiada con luz visible

Resumen

En este trabajo, se evaluaron las características de la estructura cristalina, actividad fotocatalitica y propiedades magnéticas de la sillenita (Bi25FeO40). Se obtuvieron polvos de Bi25FeO40 mediante molienda de alta energía asistida con un tratamiento térmico a 700°C. La estructura cristalina, analizada mediante difracción de rayos X (DRX), reveló la obtención de Bi25FeO40 con alta pureza (100 %) y una estructura cristalina cúbica del tipo I23. La actividad fotocatalítica de la Bi25FeO40 se evalúo midiendo la eficiencia de degradación del colorante cristal violeta (CV) en un espectro de luz visible (desde 420 hasta 780 nm), exhibiendo una degradación de CV del 34 % en un lapso de 210 minutos, lo cual abre la posibilidad de que la Bi25FeO40 pueda operar bajo luz solar. La caracterización magnética obtenida mediante magnetometría de muestra vibrante (VSM) revela un comportamiento ferrimagnético con una magnetización de 0.054 emu/g. Lo anterior confirma la síntesis de un fotocatalizador recuperable magnéticamente.
