Progressive improvement method in kaolinitic clay purification plant
Abstract
In this work, the conceptual and analytical design of a kaolin purifying plant manufactured at the Academic Area of Earth Sciences and Materials of the Institute of Basic Sciences and Engineering of the UAEH was carried out as part of the scaling process of this technology. The design includes the structure of the plant, its operation, stress calculation, corrosion analysis, manufacturing material costs, and necessary accessories to improve its performance. A methodology was used that allowed proposing quotations between the different types of selected materials, including steel alloys, non-ferrous castings, and a polyamide called Nylamid, based on a quality of material/performance ratio. To achieve a stable and reliable design, key properties such as corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and impact resistance were considered. The study included the input of specialized technicians in metalworking, who visualized the physical structure of the plant and its key elements to achieve its purpose.
