Determination of electrical properties of BaTiO3 doped with Gd3+

Abstract

BaTiO3 electroceramics doped with Gd3+ (Ba1-xGdxTi1 / 4O3) were synthesized using solid state reaction metod with x = 0.001, 0.005, 0.05 and 0.25, Gd3+ (wt%). The powders precursor mixtures were decarbonated at 900 °C for 12 hours and then sintered at 1400 °C for 8 hours. The results obtained by XRD revealed the predominantly tetragonal BaTiO3 phase. Capacitance of pellets sintered was measured 1 kHz of frecuency; these values allowed to calculate the relative permittivity (e) of electroceramics, in which a decrease of (e) with increasing Gd3 +, and a decrease in the Curie temperature (Tc) was observed. The results of SEM-EDS of the sintered material showed a uniform microstructure constituted by acicular range particles.
