The Anthropocene: a time to speak up and rethink education

Keywords: Global warming, environmental crisis, environmental education, climate justice

Abstract

The Antrhopocene is the geologic epoch in which we are living and its defined by the global impact that human activities have on ecosystems, which translates in a severe environmental crisis. Even though we are feeling the effects of this crisis, and although the scientific community has predicted that it will continue, very few has been accomplished by decision makers in the past 50 years. That's why thousands of children and youth around the World have raised their voices. Also, in the field of education, it becomes urgent to rethink study plans and curricula to include a strong enviromental education component.
