Factors that determine nursing leadership and autonomy in clinical practice

Abstract

Nursing as a profession and discipline has been constantly evolving over time, above all, when referring to a leadership position in the health service, above all, there is no favorable response to said positioning, the research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the factors that determine the leadership and autonomy of nursing graduates in clinical practice in the emergency department. The methodology is quantitative, with a population of 30 nurses from a private hospital in Pachuca, Hidalgo; that are distributed in 4 services of the morning shift being in the emergency department, medicine, internal and the ICU. As Results: the participants were identified with an age between 35-50 years and a female predominance; It was identified that 48% of them were not leaders in their work, in addition to identifying 46% disinterest and little autonomy. Conclusion The factor that most influences the lack of leadership and autonomy in clinical practice in the emergency department is the lack of security, both in terms of knowledge and in the performance of the practice.
