Potencial farmacológico y biotecnológico de Hericium erinaceus: una revisión
Resumen
Hericium erinaceus es un hongo comestible cultivado que ha despertado el interés de la comunidad científica por sus compuestos bioactivos y sus posibles aplicaciones. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue revisar información acerca de los usos potenciales de esta especie, tanto de su micelio, basidioma, o derivados, mediante una búsqueda especializada en revistas de alto impacto. Se encontró que es una fuente de suplementos dietéticos y de bioactivos naturales; contiene al menos ciento dos compuestos bioactivos y se ha empleado en la farmacología como antimicrobiano, antidepresivo, mejorador de las funciones cognitivas y mitigador de la osteoartritis. En el área biotecnológica es usado para la construcción de hidrogeles, fortificante alimenticio, cultivo a escala industrial y una alternativa alimenticia vegana asemejando a los mariscos. Puede ser utilizado en los procesos de biorremediación y biodegradación, además se considera un alimento funcional que puede aplicarse en el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías que impulsen la innovación de alimentos y la elaboración de nuevos medicamentos.
