Remoción de colorantes en agua residual con carbón magnético activado
Resumen
El carbón activado (CA) obtenido de subproductos agroindustriales, así como sus variantes, han sido una alternativa económica para la remoción de compuestos orgánicos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue obtener un carbón magnético activado (CMA) a partir de bagazo de cebada (BSG) para utilizarlo en la remoción de colorantes sintéticos alimentarios presentes en agua residual doméstica. El CMA se sintetizó partiendo de BSG húmedo, el cual se trató térmicamente y se le adicionó magnetita (Fe3O4) para mejorar la separación. Se realizaron ensayos de remoción en columna y en modo dispersivo. En todos los casos se utilizaron colorantes en concentraciones individuales de 150 mg/L, la mezcla de éstos se adicionó a una muestra de agua residual doméstica y su remoción se evaluó en modo dispersivo. Se obtuvieron porcentajes de remoción >85% en ambos modos, lo que permite proponer el BSG como un subproducto que se puede aprovechar para obtener CA con propiedades adsorbentes de colorantes utilizados en la industria de alimentos.
