Resumen

Las benzotiazolinas son compuestos heterocíclicos versátiles que son utilizados en organocatálisis, en la transferencia de hidrógeno para la obtención de nuevos compuestos de interés sintético como las aminas quirales; así como en procesos de alquilación o acilación de alquenos. En condiciones oxidantes, se ha propuesto su uso como una estrategia sostenible para la formación de compuestos de interés industrial como el ácido sulfúrico. Adicionalmente, las benzotiazolinas se han utilizado como quimidosímetros para la cuantificación y detección de compuestos o metales específicos. En presencia de iones metálicos presentan reacciones de apertura del anillo de cinco miembros originando la formación de bases de Schiff azufradas que son coordinadas a metales in situ, lo que abre un campo muy importante en la Química de Coordinación por su empleo como precursores de ligantes N,S- y N,N,S-tridentados. Además, las benzotiazolinas y sus derivados metálicos conteniendo bases de Schiff son muy estudiadas por sus propiedades biológicas.
