Resumen

Se expone la diálisis como un método de purificación de coloides, teniendo una aplicación especial en el tratamiento de pacientes con insuficiencia renal. Se presentan algunos antecedentes, referencias geográficas en México, y el proceso para llevar a cabo esta técnica de superficie, una muestra del equipo de purificación constituido, así como los cuidados necesarios del paciente. Se muestra como objetivo el difundir el conocimiento básico de esta técnica en aplicaciones médicas reales. Se han abordado temas importantes como el inicio no programado en diálisis, los tipos de diálisis como tratamiento en la disfunción renal y la importancia de informar y educar al paciente antes de su inclusión en las diferentes modalidades de su tratamiento renal sustitutivo.
