Design of an electronic system for handling biopsies in 12 steps

Keywords: Biopsy, PID controller, Proteus, LabVIEW

Abstract

Obtaining a timely clinical diagnosis has become a primary objective for medicine, since diseases are constantly advancing, greater engineering support is needed for the development of systems capable of performing automated and efficient procedures that benefit this field. In this work, the case of tissue processing machines is addressed, the design and simulation of the electric-electronic control of this biomedical equipment that allows the manipulation and treatment of biopsies, whose process consists of twelve steps, is presented. Biopsy is a procedure where tissue is obtained from any organism for histopathological study. One of the procedures of the biopsy system is sample collection. The system for handling and control of the machine is composed of an electronic system, designed with an optical isolation stage, amplification, temperature recording, temperature control and control of the change of rotation of the gearmotors. Proteus Demo and LabVIEW student versions were used for the simulation of each of the stages.
