PLC-HMI implementation for control and monitoring in the automation of a packaging machine in the soft drink industry for Tetra Briks packing

This work introduces the automation proposal for the packaging process of beverages in Tetra Brik pakage of 500 ml, in the Mexican company commonly known as Boing. The proposed system is constituted of automatic control technology PLC, which receives and registers information coming from measurement instruments, such as presence, photoelectric, proximity, inductive, and RTD sensors; this information allows executing control actions based on the control logic developed and programmed in the PLC, in order to send control signals to the actuators intervening in the process development, such as electric resistances, electric motors, pneumatic pistons, alarms, and indicator lamps. The process begins by moving the product through a conveyor according to the requested quantity, 3 or 6 juice packs in 500 ml presentation, being this the first parameter that must be specified through a HMI, which starts the machine operation for the beverage packaging process. This automation proposal takes as initial control actions turning on a furnace and a compressor, and consequently, the system starting, to proceed with the stages of distribution, sealing, and moulding of the required product.
