Alignment of organizational design to a company through the application of the Star Model

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze and identify the elements of the organizational structure of the company Creaciones Aromáticas Industriales, S.A. de C.V, by means of an explanatory and qualitative research through the application of an open questionnaire to a company manager. Derived from the analysis, the proposal for improvement to the organization allows to effectively manage its processes to benefit the company in its organizational design. The diagnostic analysis was prepared under the proposal made by Kates & Galbraith (2007) for the implementation of the Star Model, which includes five categories for decision-making, based on the analysis of capacities, structure, processes, incentives and people. The study shows that the company has opportunities for improvement within the categories of structure, personnel and process, in which it is proposed to establish the Quality Control and Human Resources Departments; at the same time, verify the concordance between job designs to avoid duplication of activities and improve relations with the other positions; finally, verify that the processes maintain an adequate productivity standard, as well as to execute the necessary actions to carry out sales forecasts in order to have greater control over them.
