Level of knowledge of hypertensive treatment of the elderly with hypertension in a health center in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico.
Abstract
The lack of knowledge about arterial hypertension can lead to a lack of adherence to pharmacological treatment of older adults living with hypertension, and this can generate complications in the short and medium term, the level of knowledge of the treatment is the basis for a health-generating behavior. The objective is to identify the level of knowledge of the elderly living with hypertension. The methodology of this research is applied, quantitative, descriptive, carried out between December 2021 and March 2022, in a population of 110 older adults with a diagnosis of hypertension, users of the health center of the Morelos neighborhood, municipality of Mixquiahuala, Hidalgo, Mexico. The Instrument of general knowledge of hypertensive treatment and a sociodemographic data sheet were used, previously the informed consent was signed. The results I obtained in the level of knowledge of hypertension were: 17 men and 14 women obtained medium level, 38 men and 41 women low. At the end of the research I was able to know that the knowledge of the elderly in the health center of Mixquiahuala was low, since they did not know the damage that can cause them in their health, not to carry out an adequate treatment of arterial hypertension and what complications they can have over time.
