Evolution of the concept of dementia over time
Abstract
Currently, with the assistance of the United Nations, efforts have been made to eradicate misconceptions surrounding aging. Aging, being a universal and heterogeneous process, should not necessarily be associated with dementia as part of the aging process for everyone. In other words, neurocognitive disorders may not necessarily be a part of the way the body experiences decline. This and other aspects surrounding the condition will be addressed in the present educational support material, such as the explanation of the concept of dementia and the psychological conditions that characterize it throughout a historical journey, using an infographic as a visual resource.
