Development and validation of the assertivess scale in order to evaluate the level of social skills
Abstract
The social skills are an element which favors the psychologic and emotional wellness of the teens, and the educational ambit benefit the competences in which are involved the relations among equals and with the others. The goal of the present work is to study the properties psychometric scale social skills among equals for teens. The main of the test contents was constructed based in the assertive behavior indicators defined by Del Prette and Del Prette. 1 The scale was applied at a high school in Morelia, Micoacán. The reliability analysis displayed a high alpha (α=0.88). An exploratory factor analysis in which five primary factors were obtained with half of the sample. With the other half of the sample a confirmatory factor analysis of second order with five primary dimensions was realized: self-perception (α=0.78), expression (α=0.77), respect (α=0.71), conflict management (α=0.48), and reject claims (α=0.46). The results display that the confirmatory model contains a suitable adjustment (GFI = 0.927, AGFI=0.912, RMSEA=0.044).
