Abstract

The inclusion of environmental determinants in the health-disease process studies has gained more importance since these were included in Lalonde’s public health model in 1974. Over all data indicate that approximately 25% of the global disease burden is due to environmental factors. Concerning to cancer, a significant percentage of its causes, have been linked to the environmental and occupational exposures. In this regard, World Health Organization has issued recommendations to invest in research focused on risk identification and primary prevention.
