Relationship between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases
Abstract
Objective. Identify the relationship between systemic diseases and periodontal disease. Material and method. The present research work is an analytical, descriptive correlational bibliographic review, an evaluation and selection of the bibliographies was carried out according to the established inclusion and exclusion criteria; A total of 170 scientific articles were compiled, of which 90 were discarded based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results. The analysis of the articles based on current literature of this bibliographic review refers to the existence of a relationship between the four aforementioned Systemic Diseases (Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular Disease and Arterial Hypertension) with Periodontal Disease, in which a pattern is identified inflammatory. Conclusion. The close relationship of periodontitis with systemic diseases occurs due to an exacerbated inflammatory response presenting an immune response.
