Vaccination against COVID-19 in pediatric patients

Keywords: COVID-19, pediatric patients, vaccination

Abstract

Two years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists around the world have advanced rapidly in the development of safe and effective vaccines that will help reduce illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths associated with COVID-19. Mexico seriously impacted the population with morbidities. In the case of pediatric patients, the incidence is much lower compared to adults, however, in some cases, complications of the disease also occur in them, registering deaths in this age group in our country. The decision of whether to universally vaccinate children against COVID-19 is complex and depends on scientific, ethical, political, epidemiological, and economic factors. The objective of this didactic support material is to provide information in simple and clear language, about the scientific results of the vaccination process in the pediatric population, which allows for clearing doubts about it and knowing its benefits.
