Bioethics is an essential component of modern healthcare, particularly in the management of chronic diseases such as arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. In Mexico, these conditions show high prevalence and frequently coexist with traditional practices such as the use of medicinal plants. The combined use of herbal medicine and conventional drugs may generate clinical risks and relevant bioethical dilemmas, especially when professional supervision is lacking. This article analyzes, from a bioethical perspective, the main risks associated with this practice and the principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice involved, highlighting the role of healthcare professionals in providing safe and culturally sensitive guidance.
