PICO: Main axis with Evidence Based Nursing and its Relationship with the Scientific Method
Abstract
In response to the curricular importance of research within the Nursing Undergraduate field and the growing participation of students in the generation of high-impact research products, the following conceptual map has been constructed including the most noteworthy aspects within Evidence Based Nursing (EBN). The scientific method is incorporated into the five stages of EBN, with the PICO question as the main axis. The research process is a continuum, as its own evaluation leads to further formulation of clinical questions. Given the increased population with health problems and the shortage in nursing personnel conducting research with direct focus on the community´s well-being, it is of utmost importance to propel forward future health professionals so that they develop and carry out quality research.
