Lactic acid bacteria isolated in Mexico: bibliometric analysis of the period 2001-2020
Abstract
A bibliometric study was carried out on original research on the isolation of lactic acid bacteria and their products, carried out by Mexican research groups, and published in scientific journals included in the Journal Citation ReportsTM, in the period 2001-2020. Forty-nine original research articles were registered, with approaches in microbial taxonomy and characterization of functional metabolites. The main sources of isolation were agave products and milk, and UNAM was the most productive institution in the analyzed period. All investigations were published in foreign journals.
