Rehological and anticorrosive behaviour for hybrid ceramic: SiO2/PDMS
Abstract
Corrosion is a physical-chemical phenomenon that affects various industrial sectors, including the aeronautical industry. Anticorrosive coatings are currently employed to mitigate corrosion effects, forming a protective barrier on the metal surface that prevents contact with corrosive agents such as humidity, acids, or alkalis. Previously, C. Salazar-Hernández et al. proposed the formulation of a ceramic coating based on silica/PDMS, serving as an anti-corrosion agent on Al-6061 surfaces. The coating exhibits resistance to corrosion, ranging from good to excellent based on NACE-International's criteria for evaluating corrosion phenomena. However, the impact of viscosity, PDMS concentration, and functional groups on the corrosion of AL-6061 has not been studied yet. Therefore, this project aims to conduct the missing studies by utilizing an acidified saline solution with a pH of 3 as a corrosive agent on a metallic substrate.
