Desing of a shell and tube heat exchanger

Abstract

Heat exchangers are devices that facilitate the exchange of heat between two fluids that are at different temperatures and at the same time prevent them from mixing with each other. This work aims to design a heat exchanger with the help of SolidWorks software, it is dimensioned and the calculations are made that will give us the behavior of said design, in order to determine the most important parameters to consider for the selection and design of a heat exchanger, for the analysis the total heat transfer coefficient U, the heat transfer ratio between the two fluids Q ̇ and the logarithmic mean temperature difference (LMTD) are considered, the correction factor F is considered for To take into account the deviation of the average temperature difference with respect to the LMTD, the effectiveness-NTU method is used, which allows the analysis of heat exchangers when the outlet temperatures of the fluids are not known. The result is that a cross flow exchanger is the best option for the design due to its greater heat gain between fluids, the design drawing is obtained and finally the manufacturing of the device that serves for practices and monitoring the behavior of an exchanger. of heat.
