Nearshoring in Mexico
Abstract
The nearshoring trend has emerged as a strategic approach aimed at relocating crucial production chains to nearby countries in order to increase the resilience of global supply and production networks. With Mexico's proximity to the United States and Canada, both geographically and in terms of trade alliances, this trend offers an important opportunity to attract foreign investment. However, despite the momentum that the relocation of production chains has gained in the last two years, there is currently no clear or established method for assessing the results of this trend. This essay highlights this movement as an important opportunity to accelerate the country's economic development.
