Abstract

The world health organization estimates that there are 40 million amputees in the world, in Mexico statistics indicate an increasing trend in the incidence of amputees in lower limbs. Modern prosthetics are designed to offer comfort and confidence when walking, they have cushioning systems, motion control or an artificial intelligence system, features that make them have a high cost, so for most amputee people are unable to access this type of prosthesis. This work presents the design and development of a damping transfemoral prosthesis with a low-cost, which will contribute to the development of articulated mechanisms applied to biomechanics, reducing costs in the design phase since it has a parameterized CAE design that will optimize the design of the mechanism in a shorter time, thus incentivizing industrial growth in the field of biomechanics in our nation. This project benefits people with amputation of the lower limb.
