What motivated medical students to begin and continue their studies in the Escuela Superior de Tepeji del Rio?

Abstract

The Medical-Surgeon career is widely known for being one of the most demanding due to the immense amount of knowledge that the students must acquire and the constant pressure they’re under in order to become exemplary doctors. It’s for this reason that it is important to study the factors that motivate the students to choose and keep their studies in this academic program. The objective of this investigation is to focus on the students from the first four semesters in the Escuela Superior de Tepeji del Río (ESTe) in order to understand the factors that influence their motivation. It’s fundamental to analyse the level of support that they receive from their environment, their satisfaction with the academic program and the extracurricular activities that they’re offered. Likewise, it’s important to understand how influential factors are, like: the vocation, the possibilities for helping people, the social prestige of the career and the labour opportunities in the future.
