Long-term negative effects of using of birth control pills
Abstract
Birth control pills are one of the most effective methods of contraception, they work by stopping sperm from joining with an egg and fertilizing it. They contain estrogen and progesterone, hormones that prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, activate it as a protective barrier. The birth control pill is a safe way to prevent pregnancy, also has other benefits like Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) control and regulate menstruation. The objective of this research is to find out the negative side effects that have appeared in women that have used birth control pills for long term. This is because it has been shown that the use of these and their hormones can cause unfavorable side effects, like cardiovascular disease, cancer, Crohn's disease and alterations in mental health. It is essential to know that the negative side effects do not occur in all people.
