Abstract

Sexually transmitted diseases affect more than 1 million people each day, a fact that has become worrisome and of interest for public health. Currently there are different methods of prevention, it is also important to know how they are transmitted, what are the main signs and types of the most frequent diseases.

The importance of this issue lies in the enormous incidence of increasingly younger people who contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD) due to the lack of information regarding their different transmission routes and how to prevent them. It should be emphasized that the above is only achieved with barrier methods, of which it is less and less frequent to use hormonal methods for family planning, using a contraceptive method with the sole purpose of avoiding pregnancy, leaving aside the importance to prevent different STD.
