Cri du chat Syndrome

Abstract

The cat’s meow syndrome (Cri du Chat) was described in 1963 by the French pediatrician and geneticist Jérôme Lejeune, as a chromosomal alteration caused by a deletion (loss) at the end 3 of the short arm (p) of chromosome 5 (5p15 .3), characterized by a similar sound to the meow of a cat in affected infants or babies, accompanied by other physical and psychomotor alterations. Currently with the evolution of technology and improvements in health services, syndromes of genetic origin have become more recognized, unfortunately in Mexico they are still underdiagnosed and few syndromes are given treatment, the syndrome of Cri du chat is one of the many conditions that are not well known, which is why information about this syndrome is presented in this infographic.
