Periodontitis is a chronic disease where the inflammation of periodontal tissues around the tooth are affected.  In elder people the prevalence of periodontits is elevated and it is increasing with the age. Periodontitis is measured using a Extension and Severity Index (ESI). Aim. To determine the prevalence of severity and extension of periodontal disease in three different groups of elder nursing home. Material and Methods. It is an analytical cross-sectional study in 139 elder people of three different groups. A validated questionnaire was answered for each interviewed, then an oral examination was made to each participant in order to obtain ESI data. The examiner was a Kappa=93 percent. Anunivariated and bivariated analysis was done. Results. N=139 (public nursing home 84, private nursing home 31, club 24), age average 79.1±9.9 years; 69.1% women (78.5±9.8), 30.9% men (80.3±9.6).  The prevalence of  severe periodontitis was 80% (n=85) There were statistical differences between  the severity of periodontitis in each examined group (x2= 8.74, p=0.013.),  the  95.5% between 70-75 years had more severity with statistical differences (X2 =11.92, p=0.008). Men reported more severe periodontitis (96%) with statistical differences (X2  =5.66, p=0.01.) Rightholders old people reported more severity in periodontitis (89.6%) statistically different (X2 =6.33, p=0.012).There was statistically differences in extension for group. Conclusion. The prevalence of periodontitis was really elevated in each three groups examined (80%), It was different according to variables as type of examined, right holder, sex and age.
