Abstract

Introduction: The acid peptic disease is caused by the interaction of hydrochloric acid and pepsin factors that predispose the gastrointestinal mucosal ulceration. This disease includes two conditions: gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and dyspepsia. It is considered that the main cause of this disease: Helicobacter pylori infections, lifestyle, eating habits, stress, diseases like cystic fibrosis of the pancreas, and genetic factors. Objective: To determine the causes of acid peptic disease in medical students and treatment. Materials and methods: Analytical observational study of cases and controls, through the application of questionnaires to a population of 120 students graduated in medicine (UAEH). 60 cases and 60 controls: one sample was obtained. Results: A pilot test was conducted, in which 80% have a power required making only 2 or 3 heavy meals a day and regular consumption of spicy salsa. 100% of cases of drinks with caffeine and is subject to daily stress. Conclusion: acid peptic disease is common in medical students.
