Abstract

Sleep hygiene is defined as a set of behaviors, environmental conditions and factors related to sleep that can be modified to promote the amount and quality of sleep (American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 2005). In children this variable is associated with the regulation of energy, metabolic control, endocrine, emotional regulation, consolidation of learning, memory, etc. (Lamp & Hiscock, 2003; Escobar et al 2013.). In children, the impact of not having a good sleep quality is reflected in low academic achievement, impaired growth, behavioral problems, creating important risk factors for modifying health and quality of life of the family (Corgosinho et al. 2011). The aim of this study is to develop and assess the level of effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral program to modify sleep hygiene in children and parents in the state of Hidalgo multimodal intervention. It is a descriptive study, with quasi-experimental design, pretest-posttest with control group. The program consists of four phases, the first adaptation and validation of the "Children's Report Sleep Patterns" (CRSP) instrument is performed, (Meltzer et al. 2013). In the second design intervention program based on the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, in which the use of electronic applications will be included to reinforce behavioral aspects it will be performed. The third phase will take place validation of the intervention program. And finally, the intervention program will apply. This paper presents the results of the first phase of the study are reported. They involved 235 children from private schools in the city of Pachuca, Hidalgo. By intentional non-probabilistic sampling, of which there were 136 girls and 99 boys, mean age was 10.93 years. The age range was 8-16 years. Among the preliminary results of the test he carried out reliability analysis using Cronbach alpha, finding acceptable to use the test value of .811.
