Interview with Maty Huitrón

Abstract

This interview discusses the beginnings of the career of Mexican theater and film actress Maty Huitrón (1936-2019) and her work as president of Casa del Actor I.A.P. It aims to delve into the relationship of the artist with the theatrical context of the mid-twentieth century and her affinity with activism for older persons, particularly of the members of the National Association of Actors (ANDA). This in-depth ethnographic interview addresses the elements in which Huitrón founded her theatrical activity as well as the obstacles she faced. The difficulties associated with developing in the acting environment according to gender and youth are also observed.
