Abstract

The key of the present article is to offer a brief review of Memorias del hormiguero a play staged by Ramsés Figueroa, premiered on February the fourteenth 2020. This review gives a general insight on the play’s theme. It also indicates who participated on the staging - professors, students and graduates from the School of Arts at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo-. A series of resources used during the performance are commented, whose effectiveness the article also tries to weigh: In the reviewer’s opinion, several had a good acceptance by the spectators; however, some other resources could run the risk of diverting the viewer’s attention from the main theme, which in this case it’s the life of four miners. Throughout the play, they show us their hobbies, their dreams and troubles outside the mines of the mining municipality of Real del Monte, Hidalgo. Memorias del hormiguero was made thanks to a scholarship from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA). This is an institution created in 1989, which is responsible for promoting and stimulating the projects of the artistic community, so that they can develop their works without restrictions and with complete freedom.
