Electrochemical test scaling for kaolinite clay bleaching

Abstract

 The kaolinitic clays are one of the raw materials, non-metallic, of greater consumption and industrial importance; The application of various purification techniques causes the cost for its treatment to increase, due to the use of acids and some other materials that are used in these processes. In this work, results of the scaling of the electrochemical bleaching process of kaolinitic clays are presented for use at an industrial level, and it is verified with the analyzes that the results are consistent with each other. The deposit of Fe, Ti, Co and Se among others was achieved in a potentiostatic way, in a 2-electrode system. The maximum achieved whiteness of the kaolin clay for this system was 84.4 u.a. It was demonstrated with the RDX analyzes that the reduction processes carried out on the surface of the brass discs occur selectively since Fe is found in one and Se in another.
