Public health: essential functions of public health paper

Abstract

The concept of Health given by the World Health Organization (WHO) given in 1946, has defined it as "a state of perfect physical, mental and social well-being, and not only the absence of the disease", the magnitude of this definition has deserved great advances in public health, and although the latter has its origins since the first Industrial Revolution, the definitions of public health have been evolving, from Winslow in 1920 to the New Public Health, also the relevance of the "Essential Functions of Public Health", which include social practice for strengthening health in the population, the generation of human resources in health and to achieve an optimal training of graduates for the new challenges in Public Health that society has. It is important to note the importance of other areas in public health, since the needs of the population are seen more comprehensively, not only in health care, but also in the areas of nutrition, environmental and psychological health.
