Hypothyroidism
Abstract
The thyroid gland is located deep to the sternothyroid and sternohyoid muscles, anteriorly in the neck (C5-T1), a small butterfly-shaped gland, this gland is responsible for producing hormones that are responsible for controlling the body's energy. Hypothyroidism is the decrease in the production of hormones, this condition is due to the fact that this gland does not produce the necessary amount of triiodothyronine and thyroxine. This condition presents different symptoms, for example: tiredness, intolerance to cold, apathy and indifference, dry skin and the most common is weight gain.
