Uso de compostas y lombricompostas para incrementar la producción de alfalfa (Medicago sativa), en el Valle del Mezquital, Hidalgo: Una revisión

El uso excesivo de fertilizantes químicos en la agricultura intensiva tiene efectos indeseables en el ecosistema del suelo, afectando la microbiología, la fertilidad y la estructura del suelo. El exceso de fertilizantes químicos se lixivia con las precipitaciones pluviales que se acumulan en cuerpos de agua, causando su contaminación. La utilización de compostas y lombricompostas trae consigo efectos benéficos, que incluyen la disminución de los requerimientos de agua para riego, menor susceptibilidad a ataques de plagas, supresión del crecimiento de malezas, mejor germinación de semillas y crecimiento acelerado de las plantas, así como el aumento en la producción de los cultivos. Además, el incorporar compostas y lombricompostas en la producción de alfalfa, fomenta las prácticas sostenibles y productivas. El objetivo del presente documento fue realizar una revisión acerca del uso de fertilizantes empleados para optimizar la producción sustentable de alfalfa. La información se obtuvo de artículos científicos indexados con factor de impacto.
