Neuropsychological factors of violence. Theoretical revision
Abstract
The use of different methodologies belonging to the field of neuroscience has allowed to account for the brain structures and functions that are involved in the phenomenon of violence. The aim of the present study is to show a neuropsychological profile of violent people based on a theoretical review. Method: A review was carried out in the main databases in Spanish on experimental studies that link the neuropsychological evaluation variables with violence. In an initial search, 25 articles were obtained, of which 19 were discarded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria, and finally, 6 studies were analyzed. At the neuropsychological level, the main faults occur in the executive functions, which clearly translates into difficulty in the control and regulation of their behaviour.
