Efficacy of Moringa oleifera for the production of cosmetic products

Keywords: moringa oleifera, cosmetics, phenol groups, antioxidants

Abstract

Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing tree with little demand on the soil, present throughout the intertropical strip, where Colombia is located. This species is attributed various benefits for the well-being of the human being due to the phenolic compounds and flavonoids present in structures such as leaves, stems, roots and fruits of the plant. Therefore, in the present work a documentary review is developed in order to investigate the properties of M. Oleifera in the cosmetic industry for skin care. Resulting in the analysis of an antioxidant such as ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and phenolic groups such as retinol (vitamin A) and tocopherol (α, β, γ), vital compounds for the elimination and neutralization of free radicals that affect cells. and accelerate the aging process. In this way, it is established that Moringa oleifera would be an important raw material for the production of cosmetic products for the skin.
