Abstract

This paper refers to the development that the alternative justice has had within the state of Hidalgo, which is comprised by procedures that seek to resolve conflicts peacefully and quickly, without having to resort to a trial. Within the alternative means, which the system of alternative justice in Hidalgo contemplates, we find mediation and conciliation, which have allowed citizens to have a new option to access to the administration area of local justice. The alternative justice legislation in this state is relatively new, as it has just five years; however, the results obtained through the State of Alternative Justice Center, which is the institution responsible for providing the services of mediation and conciliation have had an important advance. Also, Hidalgo has been noted for having, besides the ordinary mediation, the indigenous mediation, unlike other states.
