Microstructural characterization of a dissimilar joint (Duplex 2202-Austenitic 201LN) performed by the GMAW process
Abstract
Welding efficiency in joints are influenced by internal defects that could be present in the welding bead or by the phases present due to the chemical composition of the bases materials. In this sense, the present work study the phases present in the weld bead by means of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-rays spectroscopy. The results showed the phases that were precipitated during the welding process (χ and σ), these being, together with the segregation of elements, the cause of the presence of hot cracking.
